In the fall of 2020, I rode my Trek 820 bicycle from Omaha, Nebraska through Iowa to the Missouri state line. It was a challenging journey with many difficulties taking approximately 8-1/2 hours of continued peddling. But planning and training ensured success - just like marketing. Data-driven preparation and execution can garner desired results.
If you need someone who can create a positive influx on your marketing strategies or a professional who can contribute to building a strong brand, please continue to review my site. I have immense graphic design and advertising experience across all platforms. I have contributed my talents to a multitude of clients from large and small to even national.
I have a strong understanding of today's digital advertising ecosystem including ad serving practices, programmatic channels, targeted campaigns, SEO/SEM, and rich media. In addition to producing online campaigns, I also write and provide updated collateral to our advertising sales teams explaining technical specifications for new ad types based on IAB standards.
I currently manage the deployments of the email marketing campaigns for the Omaha World-Herald and for a wide range of clients. I was able to more than double open rates based on better subject lines and preview text. I have experience with the applications Mail Chimp, Klaviyo, What Counts, and Post-Up.
I have over 25 years experience designing almost any type of project imaginable: advertisements for a plethora of mediums, publications, magazines, collateral, billboards, posters, displays, and more. I have won awards from several state press associations, the American Advertising Federation and other groups for advertising design. I consider myself an expert in the most utilized Adobe Creative Suite applications.
I have written branding guidelines for some of the companies I have worked for. The policies included fonts, accent fonts, text and paragraph styles, and color combinations. I also produced extensive documentation for GateHouse Media (now Gannett) that summarized the use and misuse of copyrighted and trademarked materials in advertising. It was later expanded to include our advertising policies on alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, adult entertainment, and firearms.
This is an example of a virtual reality video I shot and produced for a senior living facility. I have shot and produced several of these including private schools, venues, model homes and other spaces. These were in high demand during to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Click below to take a tour.
Newspapers are dying! This was the mantra we kept hearing - one we had to overcome. Using market research, I wrote and built this four page document that includes a graphic explanation of each of our major products. This piece compares the readership of our products and illustrates a clear visual of our different audiences. On the interior pages, the audiences are depicted by miniature busts. Each figure represents a thousand readers. I cannot stress how well this was received. It gave our sales teams the visual and statistical backing they needed to show the size and strength of our readership to our clients.
NOTE: the example is 17"x11" folded to make a 4 page letter-sized document.
The amount of advertised savings in this campaign was based on the number of points the Nebraska Cornhuskers scored in their football game. To change the content of an online campaign that is currently serving across multiple networks requires the assistance of several - including third party vendors. This campaign for Hy-Vee groceries consisted of an email campaign, a landing page with a coupon, print ads, and two online digital ads. Under my leadership, my team developed the digital components which could be served using ad tags. Once the game ended, we would change the score and the savings amount within our rich media application and the digital components would update live in real-time across all networks.
This is a sales deck I built for BH Media that covers many of our available digital advertising tactics. The presentation will be shared with all of our newspaper sales personnel. Because it is 25 pages, it is best presented when you download the PDF, open the file in Acrobat and put the file in presentation mode (command L on a Mac, control L on a PC). It was built to match the dimensions of a television or computer screen monitor (not the PowerPoint default).
NOTE: the deck is not complete but I felt its progress was worthy of sharing.
I have designed and built some very large publications. Here are some examples that include the Tuscaloosa Convention and Visitors Bureau visitors' guide, 124 page outdoor product catalogs, the Outland Trophy Award dinner program, chamber directories (not shown) and content for Crimson magazine.
